Here is the answer : ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/encodings.dir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/encodings.dir ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.dir /usr/share/fonts/truetype/fonts.dir ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType/fonts.scale /usr/share/fonts/truetype/fonts.scale + commenting out the truetype fontpath in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 Now, Openoffice is running properly again, but at the price of banning Truetype fonts. I'll be interested in a solution if anyone has managed to solve the problem and not lose the fonts.
