That CUPS/samba stuff makes me crazy

Hi everobody,

I know a lot of help is available on printer configuration but I found myself
unable to go through. Actually, I'm trying to configure a HP LaserJet 1000
connected to a windows box on the LAN using samba. I installed cups, tried to
configure it using the web tool (http://localhost:631/) and then restarted
cupsys. Unfortunately, when I try to spool something, it just stays in the
queue.
Here is the content of /etc/cups/

# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.14
# Written by cupsd on Sat Sep 7 19:56:44 2002
<DefaultPrinter lp>
Info HP LaserJet 1000
Location 192.168.1.2
DeviceURI smb://192.168.1.2/HP1000
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
</Printer>

I use samba and cups from sarge.
I also noted on linuxprinting.org that a linux driver was available for that
printer but I don't think it is of any interest when printing through samba.
Can anyone help me or tell me were to find the information needed to make
everything clear ?

TIA
Gregor
