diald and ip masquerading

I'm attempting to use diald with my modem from a Woody machine. Since I have
a small LAN here at home I was hoping to be able to use diald to make my
connection. I'm struggling here as I'm new to debian. I've configured diald
with dpkg-reconfigure and used pppconfig (which I found by accident) and so
now have something which will dialout. However I'm unsure which package to
use for IP masquerading (ipmasq broke the link), and where I find the dynamic
IP setting than was an environment variable in a setup file with SuSE.

Hoping you can help

Andrew
