It's the last editor you will ever have to learn.  No matter what you
need to do, no matter what platform you work on (except for things
like PalmOS), you can use Emacs.

You won't need everything Emacs can do.  Nobody does.  But everyone
needs different things.  Emacs will satisfy you.

Truth be told, if you don't spend a lot of your day with an editor
open, Emacs may not be right for you.  It does take longer to start
than many other editors.  are It's really designed for people who are
editing one thing or another most of the time.  If you only
occasionally need to start up an editor to modify the odd file, it
may not be best.

What exactly do you do?  I could tell you how well it manages my
calendar, but you may not need that.
