Yes, but you can tell emacs to explain itself. Start emacs, hit
Ctrl-h then hit t and it'll give you a nice newbie tutorial. I just
switched to emacs recently myself and it caught me right up to speed
and is a lot nicer than nano and ae for all around editing.
