X doesn't have a "default" font. If GTK applications are producing the look you don't want, install the GTK theme of your choice and set things to be the way you want. Endless themes are available at sites on the 'net such as themes.freshmeat.net (specify GTK). Get something like gtk-theme-switch to install them, so that you don't have to have something like gnome-control-center lying around. -- Marc Wilson msw@cox.net
