xserver-xxx for Nvidia cards

Hi,

I have two nvidia boxes (testing) both running
xserver-svga. TNT1 and GeForce2Ti. Now Im told
xserver-xfree86 with the two nvidia deb packages are
a better performance alternative. Best one?

So, in what order do I do the switch to xfree86 and
install the nvidia packages?
Do I do a 'apt-get install <nvidia-xxx>'?
Is the install order of theese two packages critical?
