Depends on how many kernels you have. I'm moving toward 32-48 MiB
myself. For /, precompiled, modular kernels may suck a lot of space,
I'm drifting up to ~128 MiB where I previously found 64-96 MiB
sufficient. Not that it's necessary to cut things really fine, but
running out of space kinda sucks ;-)

What Part of "Gestalt" don't you understand?
Kernels don't "grow" unless you compiled with the CHIA_PET option in
your configure file perhaps.
