But that could nonetheless be the only way.

That problem happened to me when I was a Windows user, and only
rebooting solved it. After I switched to Linux I thought that was one of
the troubles I was escaping, but it happens there as well.

I think the problem is in the software inside the CD equipment, not
really in the operating system software.
