yup a wise step..
but since we are at it....
is it somehow possible to get rid of that annoying lilo dependency? when
making upgrades i allways need to be really carefull when the different
update questions come, since lilo is allways there asking to rewrite the
MBR making my machine unbootable by disk (lilo is unable to boot my
machine....)

and uninstalling lilo means also uninstalling the kernel... not very
practical...
