substitute for Flash and doubt about Java ( on OO)

I running mozilla 1.0 in a woody env.
There are several pages that require
Flash plugin... is there any subsitute
for Flash, or even a Debian package
of Flash that I can install?!
when I installed OpenOffice it showed
that I didnt have any Java/ Javascript...
how can I get it?!
