RE: ??Woody Support for S3 Inc. Unknown device 8c2e (rev 05) VGA?
The page you mention shows information about the "s3virge" driver, but
the driver that should work for you is the "savage" driver. I found my
info on this web page: http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/Status28.html#28
Good luck..

VGA?
What is the connection between 8c2e and ICX? How could I have found
this?
This is the only Link I could find for S3 support in XFree86 4.2.0 but
it doesnt say anything about ICX or Super Savage.

1. Supported hardware
The s3virge driver in XFree86 4.2.0 supports the S3 ViRGE, ViRGE DX, GX,
GX2, MX, MX+, and VX chipsets. It also supports Trio3D and Trio3D/2x
chips. A majority of testing is done on ViRGE DX chips, making them the
most stable to date. This release has some stabilization fixes for MX,
GX2 and Trio3D, and XVideo support for MX and GX2.
This driver is moderately stable, however please use caution with any
new install. Please report any problems to XFree86@XFree86.org using the
appropriate bug report sheet.

Thank you again
