Not true! If you install one in /usr/local you can run both independently
without problem. 

aperrin@perrin:~$ which netscape
/usr/bin/X11/netscape
aperrin@perrin:~$ which mozilla
/usr/local/bin/mozilla
aperrin@perrin:~$ netscape --version
Netscape 4.77/U.S., 26-Mar-01; (c) 1995-2000 Netscape Communications Corp.
aperrin@perrin:~$ mozilla --version
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0rc1) Gecko/20020417, build
2002041711
