I am, and the files "eepic.sty" and "amssymb.sty" are in package
"tetex-extra".
acarezia@gelatina:~$ dpkg -S amssymb.sty eepic.sty
tetex-extra: /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/amsfonts/amssymb.sty
tetex-extra: /usr/share/texmf/tex/latex/eepic/eepic.sty
Maybe your LaTeX setup is not correct. What is the output of the
command below in your system?
texconfig conf |grep TEXMF
