Several of us debated this at some length 4-5 months ago; see the
archives for about 21/01/2002. The problem is particularly acute if one
is outside the USA. Like you, I should have thought a Paypal account
would be the way to go, but it doesn't seem to have been taken up. I did
in the end manage to send a small contribution via someone who kindly
provided the facility for me, but it wasn't easy. Perhaps it's the
decentralized nature of Linux in general and Debian in particular that
makes it difficult to set up a pathway for donations, but it does seem a
pity.
