DMZ virus scanning HTTP proxy = squid?

hi all,

i am looking for ways to install a virus scanning HTTP proxy in a DMZ
network. i'd like to use squid in addition to ScannerDaemon by
openantivirus.org, but ideally, the choice of anti-virus server
shouldn't matter. essentially i am looking for an "amavis" for
squid...

however, squid being version 2.4.6 and squid-vscan being made for the
2.3 tree, the patch doesn't go without failures, as expected. now
before i go through the code and patch up, i'd like to ask you: is
there a better way to go about setting up an virus scanning HTTP proxy
with Debian?

cheers!
