gnus also obeys the Mail-Followup-To: header.  The purpose of it is to
indicate where followup posts should go.  The most common usage is to

Basically it is a deficiency in your (and most) MUAs that they don't
understand the concept of a mailing list.  Thus their interfaces limit
you to "reply" and "reply to all" and don't include a "reply to list".
mutt and gnus do understand the concept of a list and accordingly have
"list-reply" functions.
