iproute usage ???
I have some older debian boxen:
# ip -V
ip utility, iproute2-ss001007
on which simple commands return expected results:
ip addr
ip route
However, I have another box with this:
# ip -V
ip utility, iproute2-ss010824
No matter what combinations that I try, I cannot get anything resembling
network information:
# ip addr
Cannot send dump request: Connection refused
# ip route
Cannot send dump request: Connection refused
# ifconfig

Is there something wrong with this version of iproute?
The system performs OK. I don't know of any problems with it. I am
writing some scripts that use iproute functionality and, obviously, they
fail on this box on which I want to debug the scripts ;<
What do you think?

Dare to fix things before they break . . .
Our capacity for understanding is inversely proportional to how much we
think we know. The more I know, the more I know I don't know . . .
