There are a few executables for apt
$ locate apt
/usr/bin/apt-cache
/usr/bin/apt-cdrom
/usr/bin/apt-config
/usr/bin/apt-get
/usr/bin/apt-ftparchive
/usr/bin/apt-extracttemplates
/usr/bin/apt-sortpkgs
/usr/sbin/apt-setup
