I'll probably get flamed for it, but I use the jdk from sun with no
issues, both for development and for netscape. In /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
I made a symlink that points java2 to $JAVA_HOME and a link that points
libjavaplugin_oji140.so to
$JAVA_HOME/plugin/i386/ns610/libjavaplugin_oji140.so
Mozilla works fine. This is on a single use workstation. JAVA_HOME is
/home/mental/java/j2sdk1.4.0/. The jre download from netscape was buggy
for me as well. Thats what prompted me to use Sun's. Its been fine so far.
