It may have been in a version of Office prior to Office 2000.  Corel
did have a free version of WP 8.0 for a while, but it was a bit buggy
and required a lot of libc5 stuff.

Have you tried Abiword?  It handles a lot of Word documents fairly well
(better than WP does).
