It's because current setup _does_not_ scale. As sizeof(Packages) goes
up, I'll bet you that it will get a lot worse if nothing is done.
This is a known "feature" and will have to get fixed for Woody+1.

X became more modular and thus a bit more bloated. But at least it is a much
more managable setup than with 3.3.x series.
