Adding fonts to TeX?

	Dear all,

I am currently producing some texts with pdftex and to avoid
generating PDF documents with Type 3 fonts (as xpdf calls
them), I would like to install additional Type 1 fonts, from
	the cm-super package.

But then, the question: where is the "Right Way" of adding
	local fonts for TeX?

I mean, is there any hierarchy under /usr/local where I should
add them? I would not like to mix the fonts I install with
	those coming from Debian packages...

	Thanks for any help, Roger...
