Ah, ok. So the passwd (5) man page is just a bit outdated, then? (When I
read a man page, I like to make sure I understand it completely, so I
usually have to test stuff out ;)

We don't support the old password aging. Why would you even want to use
un-shadowed passwords? You do realize it opens your system to brute
force attacks agains the password hashes, right?
