Possible. Talk to the kernel people - they might want to know this. And the hardware
that you are running on.

PS. Try 2.4.17-i386 just for fun.. If it detects 917504k again then it is probably a
kernel problem. If not, then it might have to do with 2.4.16 or Athlon optimization
thing [compiler?].
