that might work, but then you will likely get error/warning messages
about gpm and xdm not running.

mv S20gpm notS20gpm
mv S99xdm notS99xdm

| edit /etc/inittab so that the line that starts with 'id' says
| id:3:initdefault

If above you go to /etc/rc2.d then you don't need to switch the
runlevel in inittab.
