As I said when you asked this a few days ago:

  Yes, and there are patches (from Joey Hess) that fix it, which I believe
  will be in the next release of dselect.

(These are in dpkg CVS now and will be in version 1.10.)

I've cc'ed this to you in case you don't read the list directly.
