Doesn't /etc/X11/X suppose to be the symlink (and not get created by 
hand)?

[04:13:15 tmp]$ ls -l /etc/X11/X
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           22 Jul 25 04:59 /etc/X11/X -> 
/usr/bin/X11/XF86_SVGA
[04:13:29 tmp]$ 

Are you sure you shouldn't install an Xserver?

[04:16:11 tmp]$ ls -d /usr/bin/X11/X*
/usr/bin/X11/X          /usr/bin/X11/XFree86
/usr/bin/X11/XF86_SVGA  /usr/bin/X11/Xmark
[04:16:17 tmp]$ 

However I am only guessing.
