Oh thanks... I hoped for this message... since hours I tried to compile,
thought even, that I try to use a broken module, but it looks just like
your error. I compiled 2.4.16 several times before from kernel.org-source
on non debian-systems, and its working great. The swapping-problem
doesn't seem to exist anymore. But today this linking problem...
I even thought it could be a problem with gcc-3.0 and installed
gcc-2.95.4 and updated the binutils, but the result is the same.

The Debian-package seems to be broken... I'll give the kernel.org-source
a try.
