Thats a big hint that ffmpeg doesn't support big files. I had the same situation here with several tools. One common thing was, that programs which cant't handle long files, they can't see them, too.

In my opinion, that is a big pain in the ... :(
EVERY program concerning video should be capable of handling long files. There is even a commercial tool ( you have to pay $99 for...) named "Main Actor" (V3.65) which can't handle large files :(
