If you are installing "Woody" (testing), the answer is yes. There is a
config option in GDM that you can change and allow this functionality
quite easily. This was also in the GDM version of Potato, but I had
difficulty getting it working here. I am using it here on my home LAN
right now...works great!
Basically you have to change (edit) two files:
1. Edit the /etc/X11/xinit/xserverrc file and remove the "....-nolisten
tcp" option at the end of the line. You don't have to do this with the
version of GDM in Woody
2. Edit the /etc/gdm/gdm.conf file and enable xdmcp in the [xdmcp]
section. If you have the Woody version of GDM, you will have to make
the edit in #1 in the [server-Standard] section. You can do all this
from the initial GDM config console. This may be all you have to do.
