Network transfer 'pauses' on big files

Hi,

I have a Realtek 8139C chip integrated on my mainboard (Shuttle FV24).
When I'm copying large amounts of data from my W$ndows box to by Linux
machine (the Shuttle FV24),
like 200MB mpegs or whole mp3 albums, the transfer 'pauses' from time to
time for a few seconds.
(appr. every 40 MBs)

Previously I had a different mainboard without the chip on board, but I had
a NIC with the same chip.
But then I think I havn't seen this problem on that setup ...

Any ideas?
