Don't know about the lyx problem - that seems like a bad path in the
menu.  The abiword problem has been filed as a bug already, but while
you're wiating for the fix to come out, you can fix it by hand.  The
upgrade to libexpat1 removed libexpat.so.0, so just make a symlink of
that name pointing to libexpat.so.1.  That should fix it.
