Hmm, sounds weird. Are you sure u followed al the steps? Is your babel
config file pointing to the corect file? (Mine was pointing to czechyph or
someting.tex)
I also got a sty file.
[root@webworm Orion]# ls /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/cz*
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/czech.ldf
/usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/babel/czech.sty
