There isn't a "native" print model. Instead there are several to
choose from, LPRng is just one choice. I use CUPS.

Shutdown the print spooler so nothing is listening on the lpd port. I
don't know how to do this with the apps you have installed, but there
should be something in /etc/init.d that you can run with the "stop"
argument.
You can also try the --force option, or remove all print spoolers at
once. Then you can install just the tool(s) you want to have.
