Don't think it will...I use it to do exactly this from WindowMaker, and I
haven't noticed it affecting non-KDE apps. That said, I almost never use
Netscape - more of a Konqueror fan.

kcontrol updates the KDE config files (you could of course just work out
which one to edit and do it manually), so you only need to run it once.
