Why is my machine sudenly trying to do dhcp?

I brought a machine home from work, and did some updates on it ths weekend.
During these I was offered the option of letting debconf configure the
network. I alowed this to happen.

Now the machine tries to do dhcp! Which I don't wnat.

Where can I turn this off?

The machine stared life as stable machine, and I aded the Progeny upgrades,
and the 2.4 kernel upgrades, if it matters.

Wher can I find docs on debconf BTW?
