mm...  Possible.  I kinda forgot to mention that it's a laptop.  Trying
a different keyboard might be a little difficult.  I actually did have
to replace the keyboard about 6 months ago, and it was quite a hassle
(Sony kept telling me that the vaio had "no user serviceable parts" even
after I had taken it apart, and read them the part number off the bottom
of the keyboard...  It took me about a year and 5 different calls to get
through to the parts department to order a new keyboard and pay only
$107 instead of the $250 or so they were going to charge me to replace
it).  So it's new enough that I don't want to attribute it to hardware
jut yet.  But you're right, hardware does seem the most pausible
solution, given the symptoms.  :(
