strange X behavior
Hi,
I've noticed a strange X server behavior regarding to Memory
utilization. Look at this "ps" output:
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
....
root 20454 0.0 99.9 204284 4294964944 ? S<L Sep26 1:36 /usr/X11R6/bin/X
root 23460 0.0 2.2 13172 5828 ? S Sep26 0:00 -:0
....
Top gives the same impression:
---------------------------------------
11:50:52 up 2 days, 20:24, 4 users, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.04
56 processes: 54 sleeping, 1 running, 1 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 0.3% user, 0.5% system, 0.0% nice, 99.2% idle
Mem: 256044K total, 185564K used, 70480K free, 756K buffers
Swap: 128484K total, 10148K used, 118336K free, 34088K cached
PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME COMMAND
20454 root 8 -10 195M -2M 1788 S < 0.2 99.9 1:36 XFree86

Any ideas on why this is happening and if I should worry about
it? I'm running woody, with the following additional info:
