Getting Sound to work

I am trying to esd sound to work on my computer but I just can't do it.

I can get genertic beeps on the command line but that is it.

In windows it says I have a ES1869 audiodrive.

I have read the soundblaster module is supposed to be for that but
installation failed.

I have tried echo asdfdaf > dsp? to all my dsps but they all say no such
device

Here is a list of my dsps.

crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 3 Sep 21 13:33 dsp0
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 19 Sep 21 13:33 dsp1
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 35 Sep 21 13:33 dsp2
crw-rw---- 1 root audio 14, 51 Sep 21 13:33 dsp3

Any ideas how to fix this?

I am using a Compaq Presario 5280

I have also attempt to use alsa modules at one point but they all failed

Here is a list of modules it lets me install.
