Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org Hi!!! There are no stupid questions, just supid answers... POSIX means Portable Operating System Interface for Computer Environments. This is system developed by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEEE) because many different UNIX-like systems were developed. Basically, this standard defines how Unix like systems should operate and it is a de-facto standard to which all Unix-like systems should (or rather must) adhere. Basically, this has to do with system calls. Linux also adheres to Linux Filesystem Standard (FSSTND) and that defines where specific files and directories should be placed in the Linux file structure. I hope this helps, Take care, Davor
