I'm not really good at puzzling this stuff out, but detection is handled
by probing, and if your system isn't probed properly, the NICs aren't
found.  You might try configuring them post-install, or researching the
specific NICs for LILO options to get them configurated.  The LNX-BBC is
a hot little tool for system dignostics as well -- that's a bootable
GNU/Linux-on-CD distro.  http://www.lnxbbc.org/
