Perhaps you could try upgrading dpkg first. 1.6.15 is substantially
older than the version in woody, and chances are this bug has been fixed
there.

None of the things you've quoted really have anything to do with perl,
though. :) The problems are related to perl failing when libc6 and
libdb2 are upgraded; work is in progress to fix that.
