Re: Can't Connect to the Internet

1. There may be a permission problem. Are you trying as user root?
2. Do install minicom and try connecting with it. It will help you solve the
modem related problems. In general minicom is not intended to connect you to
your ISP, although it could be used for that. The reason for using minicom is
mainly to help you pin point your problems.
3. What is the output of

    setserial -ga /dev/ttyS?

4. The LDP PPP-HOWTO and Modem-HOWTO should help you as well.

  I have many problems when I try to connect to the internet by the Debian Linux. They are these:

Wvdial:

  It configures my modem detects it, but...when I try to connect...
--> Wvdial: Internet dialer session 1.41
--> Initializing modem.
--> Sending: ATZ
--> Modem not responding
  I don't know what may be wrong, when I installed the Debian Linux whe program wvdial detected all my configs and my modem at ttyS1, I gave the phone number, the username and the password...what may be wrong?

Gnome-PPP:

  I don't know if is it the name of the program, but I think yes. I give all my information and when I click in connect:
" The PPP daemon died unexpectedly "

  Please, help me...if this problem be fixed, I will like so much and the most part of my other problems I can try to fix by the internet from Debian, and not from Windows...because I know that the Linux is very better than this O.S. from the Microsoft, but...there are some things that must be fixed.

Thank you so much if you help me.
