Yes but more precisely, private network can use any of:

 Class A:  10.0.0.0  with net mask 255.0.0.0
 Class B:  172.16.0.0 through 172.31.0.0  with net mask 255.255.0.0
 Class C:  192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.0  with net mask 255.255.255.0

You can always subnet them.  :-)
