support for video card

Hi,

I am a newbie that is tryting to experiment with debian/linux/GNU. So I ordered the 2.2r potato release so that I could install it on my HP Pavillion XH226 laptop. This laptop has system configuration that is given below. I first formatted my hard drive then I created two partitions, a fat32 for windows around 9GB and another 9GB linux partition. Then I booted through the Debian CD's and installed Debian with most of the packages found on the 2.2r release. Through the installation process I ran into an automatic video configuration utility that couldn't detect my video card and then told me to run xviddetect after installation. Once my installation was complete I rebooted and then after initializing all the software and the servers and stuff it started loading Xwindows then it said switiching to graphics mode and then gave me an error that basically said that the vga16 server couldn't be contacted and my screen kept blitting and then it would simply go back to the error message. Since I didn't know how to quit, I simply rebooted, the next time it booted up it simply gave me my command prompt so I decided to run xviddetect and see what it would say. It simply said sorry that it couldn't detect any video cards and that I should send an e-mail to the debian list for help on the video card. So here I am. A general system descritption and an detailed Video card description is given below:

If you could please contact me or tell me how to install this video card so that i can run xwindows or something so that at least i can use my debian os because the command line thing is confusing and will take time to learn anyways.....so once again please tell me if anyone knows about any drivers or any way to make so that I can run xwindows from my system.

Yours with thanks,

Amit Uttam
