Where is /boot ? If it is a separate partition (ie /boot is /dev/hdc1
and / is /dev/hdc2) then change the last line to
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/hda3
(Also note that there is supposed to be an '=' sign after "root".)
The reason for this is grub doesn't look for /etc/fstab to figure out
what you named your partitions. It treats all partitions as '/'.
