Found the following post, I'd already disabled SpeedStep (AKA
geyserville) on the box.  So far, it's been relatively stable over the
past three hours -- which is a pretty good run in recent days.

I'd also forgotten that I'd inserted a PCMCIA card into the system,
intending to work out some configuration issues.  Though PCMCIA isn't
working on the box, I suspect this could be an issue as well.
