Why don't you give Ada (Ada95) a try?

A good starting point is http://www.adapower.com

The "gnat" compiler is available for Win and Linux. GtkAda is a binding to the
Graphical Toolkit Gtk. There are Deb packages too. If you need it, there are
professional support contracts too.
