I agree - inkjet quality depends very much on the media you use with
it. The rule is this: good output needs expensive paper.

Lasers give good output on plain photocopier paper.

I have an HP Laserjet 6L, which was the cheapest of HPs lasers. I works
fine using ghostscipt, and gives excellent results. I don't print very
much, but so far it's only cost the price of a paper to run - over four
years.

In hindsight I should have gone the 6MP postscript one - but it was
about twice the price at the time.
